Craven Park Challenge

The Challenge:

Today, you are an event management company that has expertise in planning and delivering high quality sports, music, galas, festivals and other recreational/ business events all over the country.

You are competing for the contract of delivering a fantastic event at Hull Kingston Rovers -  Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium. You will need to come up with a concept for an event and show why you think it will be something that people will want to be part of.

A number of things need to be considered such as, use of the stadium & grounds, how will extra funds be raised if needed, other sponsorship, cost of tickets, target audience, staff & volunteers needed, security & emergency services, transport, promoting the events, merchandise, food stalls, time of year, weather etc.

Remember that if you wanted to bring an established act or event to the stadium, such as Rhianna (£500,000) or a UFC or Boxing main event, then that would mean having to source substantially more funding to cover the higher costs of what they would be demanding to be there… is it possible & how would you do this??

You MUST make use of all the stadium & surrounding grounds area (see resource plan).

How will the sponsors be acknowledged for their contributions?

You will be given resources to produce a Ground Plan of Activities, an Advertising Poster, and an Event Cost Forecast. All of these can be used in your final pitch.

This challenge is open for primary and secondary schools in Hull, Scarborough, East Riding and Ryedale ( Norton, Malton and Pickering). Pupils can work individually or in small teams. They are competing for the contract of delivering a fantastic event at HKR’s Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium. Pupils will need to come up with a concept for an event and show why they think it will be something that people will want to be part of.

There is a prize of £200 up for grabs! To be in with a chance of winning, please email Charles.Cracknell@hullcc.gov.uk with a two page report on what your students have done or their pitch and a selection of photos, to be emailed to Charles by Friday 1st December 2023.

Good Luck!
